Running a girl’s camp takes thoughtful planning, deep commitment, and consistent follow through, but more than anything, it requires exceptional role models. At Sierra Vista, we are incredibly fortunate to have a leadership team that returns year after year. Together, Tara, Matte, and Carli bring an impressive 34 years of experience to our camp community.
Tara Andrews has been part of Sierra Vista for the past 14 years. During the off-season, she teaches elementary school in Ireland. At camp, Tara’s strengths are countless, she’s creative, highly organized, and has a wonderful sense of humor. She approaches every interaction with intention, and whether she’s speaking with parents or campers, her warmth and thoughtfulness always shine through.
Matte Trotter has spent 14 years at Sierra Vista as well, eight as a camper and six as a staff member. Currently in nursing school, Matte is someone we’ve had the joy of watching grow into an incredible leader. She brings boundless energy, an outstanding work ethic, and, let’s be honest, is easily the coolest among us. Campers absolutely adore her playful, goofy spirit and still wish she were in the cabins with them each night.
Carli has been with Sierra Vista for the past six summers, even returning after the birth of her daughter, Emmi. A teacher and coach in Texas, Carli grew up at a nearby camp, and her love for the camp experience runs deep. She’s the heartbeat that keeps everything moving, energetic, joyful, and deeply committed to making every counselor feel supported and valued. Whether she’s adding a special touch to activities or sharing a laugh, Carli brings magic to every corner of camp. And for the record, she remains undefeated on the tennis court.
We are so blessed by their committment to Sierra Vista and cannot wait to see them this summer ❤️
