Attending any summer camp for the first year can seem like a scary thing. “Who am I gonna hang out with?” “Will I make any friends?” “What am I going to do at camp?” are all questions that commonly flood the mind of a first time camper. Though it might seem scary, there is nothing to fear.
I at one point was a first time camper at Vista. Granted, I had a friend that went to camp with me my first year, I had later found out that he wasn’t going to camp the next summer. I was scared about what camp would look like without a familiar face. I told my parents that I would give it a try only if they were willing to let me call them to pick me up if I didn’t like it. Long story short, my parents did not get a call that summer.
Camp is a place where anyone can be friends with everyone. The common interest that we share is that we love camp and we can talk about so much within the Vista Bubble. Making friends at camp can happen within the first 10 minutes of being dropped off, and often does. If you have a camper that has reservations about coming to camp without any friends, or just nervous for the first time, you can let them know that it’s not something to worry about when you can guarantee they’ll have on of their best summers yet.
Until nex time…
