Here at camp, there are many opportunities to enjoy good food and try tasty treats. One of the best treats that campers get to enjoy is puppy chow! This treat is not only delicious but it’s fun to make! In this post, I want to share this recipe so that you can make it at home and give it a try for yourself.
Though there aren’t that many ingrdients, the method in which you make puppy chow is of utmost importance. When campers are making puppy chow, they’ll usually melt their chocolate and peanut butter together under the heat of the hill country sun. For us, we’re going to use a double broiler, a microwave, or really anything you want to use to melt the chocolate and peanut butter. Make sure to stir the melted chocolate and peanut butter until thouroughly consistent.
Next, we’re gonna put some of the rice cereal (Chex) into the bottom of a large bowl and then pour some of our peanut butter chocolate mixture on top. continue to layer the Chex and chocolate mixture until you’ve run out.
Mix it together until the cereal has been thickly coated. Once the cereal has been mixed well, chill the mixture in the fridge for 15 minutes or so.
Lastly, add powdered sugar to your puppy chow at your leisure. If you wnat less, use less. If you like more, use more!
Mix it around one more time to get the powdered sugar mixed consistently.
The last and most important step is to enjoy your hard work!
If you have any fun recipes like this, share them with us so we can try it out at camp. Who knows… maybe we’ll name the recipe after you at camp!
Until next time!
