As we reflect on this season of Thanksgiving, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible Vista Camps family! We are blessed that so many of you who have spent your summers here with us in the Texas Hill Country that hold our summer camp in such high regard and so close to your heart!
This fall, we had the privilege of reconnecting with many of you at our alumni meetups in Houston and Austin, and the turnout was beyond anything we expected! While we didn’t get pictures with everyone that showed up, we’re so grateful for those of you who made it out!
In Houston, Beth, Justin, and I were thrilled to catch up with former campers, counselors, and even some current camp parents, who have been part of the Vista legacy for years. It’s amazing how you get a group of people together who haven’t seen each other in years and we can talk for hours about camp!
For fear of leaving someone out, I don’t want to list names, but we had a great collection of the ’90s, 2000s, & 2010s. A special thanks to our Vista Champion Garland Levit for his help in getting a location and gathering the troops for this meetup!
Austin’s meetup was just as special! Taylor and Kourtney met up with Beth, Justin and me. We also had an added bonus of a few current counselors joining in! Our location was kid friendly, so we also had the pleasure of seeing a few future Rio Vista and Sierra Vista campers while we were there, which makes us even more excited for the years to come!
A huge thanks to Vista Superfan Eric Weiss for his direction on the best place to host this shingig in Austin! We also have loved seeing a few surprise attendees, including a camper from the mid 70’s who recently moved to Austin!
These two alumni events were so much fun that we’re already planning to make them an annual tradition! Next year, we hope to expand to the Dallas/Fort Worth area, as well as San Antonio giving even more of our Vista Family the chance to join the fun!
To everyone who came out and celebrated with us, thank you! Your enthusiasm, stories and memories remind us why we do what we do! We’re more than a summer camp, we’re a family that grows stronger every passing year! We’re so grateful for each of you! Here’s to many more reunions and newly-made memories ahead!
With Love and Gratitude,
The Vista Camps Team
