A Positively Amazing Family Weekend!

We had a great family weekend on April 22-24! We started off the weekend with games on the tennis courts. Families enjoyed playing tennis, gaga ball, 9 square and other camp-made games. One of the games is called trashketball. It is a fun partner game that involves head butting a kickball into a line of trash cans! Think the game of corn hole or washers, but with 10 trash cans, a kickball and a lot of fun!

Other activities involved a 7:30 am polar bear plunge (picture above), rock wall, giant swing, archery and many more! Family Weekend is the perfect time for families of current, future and past campers to gather in the beautiful Texas Hill Country for a relaxing and fun weekend.

The “experienced” families will have the chance to enjoy our wonderful facilities, rekindle friendships and gear up for the summer ahead.

We ended our weekend together with a time of reflection at our chapel. This weekend’s theme message was the power of positivity. We enjoyed singing songs about positivity from Disney characters like Olaf and Hannah Montana. So much fun!

During our chapel time, we also had a current camper talk about positivity through her journey in club sports! Her mother challenges her every day to “look for the positive” and it has helped this camper achieve her goals.

An alumni camper from the 90s also gave his thoughts about positivity during our chapel time. He spoke about how positivity can be neurologically infectious. Families enjoyed smiling together and writing down their favorite things about each other!

The last stop before leaving camp is the dining hall to pick up some of Mrs. Becky’s famous cinnamon rolls. If you ask campers about these cinnamon rolls, you will always get two thumbs up!

Family Weekends are a great way to escape the busyness of the world for a weekend. They typically happen during the last two weekends of April. For more information, please feel free to contact the office!
